First of all, let me extend my congratulations to President Droupadi Murmu. The world’s largest democracy has once again proudly flown the flag of democracy for all to see, and have demonstrated that democracy is the best path for prosperity, stability, and for the mobility of minority groups. Madam president came from tribal minority. She represents the true power of people and by becoming president of the largest democracy in the world, she has proven that in democracy, people of all backgrounds can accomplish whatever they set their mind and spirit to. While we truly believe in and act on the values and principles of democracy and freedom, the people of Myanmar have been starved of the very freedom and democracy our neighbour to the west is so blessed with. Madam president, for many tribal people not only in India but also in your neighbour Myanmar, the success of Indian federal democracy is a beacon of hope, raising spirits high wherever people see what is possible with democracy. Once again, we congratulate the people of India, the prime minister, and all the leaders of India for hoisting the true colours of Democracy high by electing Droupadi Murmu to the presidency of a government of the people, for the people, and by the people in India.

Myanmar, your neighbour, will soon stand side by side with your country as the Federal Democratic Union of New Myanmar where the Democratic will of the people of Myanmar and the democratic rights and freedoms of all will be respected, promoted, and protected. Soon we will stand tall as a free and democratic country. One which works to make the region and the world a better place for all. Our people will know freedom, prosperity and stability. Our people are now engaged in the great struggle for these values which we hold so dear, and which the Indian people too have fought long and hard to win. So many martyrs of freedom and democracy have given their lives today so that we may know a brighter tomorrow, and in their honour and memory we must strive to uphold our democratic principles to the fullest, so that one day soon, we can stand shoulder to shoulder with our Indian neighbours on the world stage as fellow democracies.

May God Bless India

May God Bless Myanmar

Sincerely,

Dr. Sasa
Union Minister of the Ministry of International Cooperation
Spokesperson of the National Unity Government of Myanmar
Former Myanmar Special Envoy to the United Nations
