STRUCTURE & MISSION

MOIC MINISTER AS SPOKESPERSON OF THE NUG

THE UNION MINISTER OF THE MINISTRY OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION SHALL ACT AS THE APPOINTED SPOKESPERSON FOR THE NATIONAL UNITY GOVERNMENT (NUG) OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE UNION OF MYANMAR. ALL MINISTRIES SHALL COOPERATE TO PRESENT WEEKLY REPORTS OF ACTIVITIES, NEEDS, POLICIES, KEY MESSAGES AND AGENDAS TO THE SPOKESPERSON, WHO SHALL ACT ON BEHALF OF THE NUG IN COORDINATION, COOPERATION, AND COMMUNICATION WITH THE PRESS AND THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY.

UNION MINISTER | DR. SASA

The Union Minister is appointed by the elected parliament to oversee the operations of the MOIC and all of its departments, and is the highest figure of authority within the the Ministry.

DEPUTY MINISTER | DAVID GUM AWNG

Deputy Ministers are appointed by selection of the Union Minister and approved by the Parliment to represent and share in the duties of the Union Minister.

CHIEF OF STAFF | GENERAL NIKAMUI

The Chief of Staff is appointed by the Union Minister with approval from the Parliament to oversee operations and liaison between the various departments and the office of the Union Minister. The COS is a senior Ministry cabinet member and may represent the Union Minister when necessary.

SENIOR ADVISORS & TOP AIDES

Senior Advisors and Top Aides to the the Minister are comprised of both national and international experts and community leaders who are close personal friends of the Minister and will directly advise the Minister in regards to best strategies, policies, and international matters. These experts also serve as mentors and personal coaches to the Minister, and help with brainstorming, research, and advice on the best way forward relevant to current situations.

CHIEF SECRETARY | MICHELLE

The Chief Secretary is a senior cabinet member and the senior most secretary of the Ministry tasked with overseeing communication, directives, and actions of the Ministry on behalf of the Union Minister. The Chief Secretary is appointed by the Union Minister with the approval of the Parliment, and operates at the Union Level.

CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER | DR. DAVID THA

The CIO is responsible for handling communications within the Ministry, information requests both internally and externally, and answers to the Chief Secretary. This position as a junior member of the Cabinet is appointed by the Union Minister.

ASSISTANT INFORMATION OFFICER

The A is appointed by the Union Minister and Deputy Minister with approval from the Parliament to help oversee operations and liaison between the various departments and the office of the Union Minister. The Deputy Secretary is a senior Ministry cabinet member, serves as the personal assistant of the Deputy Minister and may represent the Deputy Minister when necessary.

PERMANENT SECRETARY | FLORENCE

The Permanent Secretary is a junior level position in the cabinet of the Minister. The PS shall coordinate all communications between the departments of MOIC and be responsible for all Ministry level secretarial duties of the Cabinet and Departments.

DEPARTMENT DIRECTORS

Department Directors are appointed by the Union Minister to oversee the various departments of the Ministry, and ensure the smooth operation, communication, and efficient workflow within and between each Department and the Cabinet of the Union Minister, and other Ministries.

DEPARTMENT MANAGERS

Department Managers are appointed by the Minister with consultation of the Department Director, and placed in charge of the implementation and management of the Department and resources, and quality control of information being passed to the Department Director.

DEPARTMENT SECRETARIES

Department Secretaries are appointed by the Minister with consultation of the Department Director, and are placed in charge of all secretarial duties related to the department’s operations.

DEPARTMENT STAFF

Department staff are appointed by the Department Director with approval from the Minister and are placed in charge of carrying out the assignments from the Director and Manager, finding the relevant information as requested, and helping to keep the departments efficient and functioning smoothly.
