H.E. Hkaung Naw

Deputy Minister of the Ministry of International Cooperation of the National Unity Government of Myanmar

Before joining the National Unity Government, Deputy Minister Hkaung Naw became an international advocate for human rights since 2011 when the Civil War resumed in her hometown of Kachin, Northern Myanmar. She has also worked with youth and women to help develop their capacity for greater participation in politics. Writing to inform regional and international communities about experience of ethnic and religious minorities across the country is also her passion. She studied at University of Toronto for a degree in Science in 2013 and at Oslo University for Peace Research in the summer of 2016. As a cabinet member of the National Unity Government, she is determined to help build a new and inclusive Myanmar where diversity is celebrated.
